First of all, I used rulers in order to form where the typography boundaries are. Also, this helps me know where the sides of the MMA will be.

This was the initial chosen photo, however, after sharing this image, audience feedback commented on how it would be difficult to see the font at the top of the page.

I decided on a title name and placed it in the sightline and below the artist name.

Finally, I rasterised all layers and saved the final product.

Planning: Mise-en-scene, Equipment and Props

Mise-en-scene and props are crucial elements which aid to link all products together and make a connection between the artist and her music.
In order to appeal to the demographic of young, pop-loving, music enthusiasts, I had to make sure that the artist's makeup portrays the correct image. The artist has thick black eyeliner partnered with peach eyeshadow and subtle glitter. She has fluffy eyebrows, a trend throughout 2017 which has been carried into 2018, subsequently appealing to the consumer as the artist is up to date with current trends.

The artist is also wearing bright, vibrant red lipstick, this is a icon and theme which runs throughout the music video, CD digipack and music magazine advertisement. This icon relates to the cliche colour of love, however my products aim to counteract such stereotypes and conventions by conveying love in a alternate way. The red lipstick, roses and red ring all tie together to create and illustrate a typical perception of love, yet the music video aims to subvert these traditions.
The are the red lipsticks that were used in both the MMA and CDD.
Roses are typically associated with love, I used the petals and scattered them across the artist. As well as this, I have used one of my rings as an engagement ring, this features I in both the MMA and CCD.
To make sure that my photos would come out at the best quality, I used the white backdrop as well as lighting in order to illuminate the picture. I used the light as well as linking the flash and the camera together to get the best results.
Planning: Camera Practice
I used the Panasonic Lumix camera to practice using the camera, background and equipment. Although I will not be using this camera for my final MMA, I thought it would be a good idea to become familiar with different cameras.

Planning: MMA Inspiration
This iconic photo of Kendall Jenner hit Instagram and received millions of likes. This is my inspiration for my MMA as not only does it indicate the theme of love, Jenner's fan base would be related to my demographic. The hair in the love heart shapes is girly, yet creative, possibly something that my artist would do.Planning: Drawn Initial Ideas and Feedback:
Due to some of my written ideas not linking with my MV and CCD, I decided to sketch ideas that I liked. I used different fonts that I found in my initial written ideas and was able to fully visualise the idea and have a insight of what I will be producing.
I then asked my peers for their feedback as the demographic of my artist partially targets 17-18 year olds.
MMA 1:
MMA 2:
MMA 3:
MMA 1:
- I like the big font as it is obvious and clear to the consumer
- I like the idea of the half face and the rose
- There might be too much white space
MMA 2:
- The font is too small
- Maybe it will be good to feature the artist
- I like the association with the rose and the ring
MMA 3:
- I like the font on this as it fits with the package as a whole
- I like the idea of the hair in hearts as it fits with the title
- This is my favourite idea because it also features the CCD
Photoshop Practice:
In order to become more familiar with Photoshop, I practiced by making a MMA. Due to me struggling with this software, I managed to produce a MMA, however I know this is not the standard I was hoping for, therefore I will be practicing more so I will be able to create something that looks professional (to some extent).
This is the finished product, I played around with the gradient effects and also used the same colour of Sam's polo for the font. I am becoming more confident, but I still need more practice.
Planning: Rough Ideas:
At first, I liked the idea of a white background and a black and white photo. However, after looking at the rough ideas, I have decided to change the MMA cover. The image needs to stand out as much as the background does. I am starting to like the idea of using the mirrored background, as this is predominant throughout my music video. Additionally, this will enforce the idea of the character being trapped.

Research: What Are Music Magazines?
The publications consist of advertisements, interviews and general information about artists, yet different magazines focus on alternate demographics. Artists pay to be featured in the magazines to directly reach their target audience, therefore having a clear focus as only music enthusiasts are more likely to purchase this type of magazine. Interviews can be included, as well as photos shoots, yet the depends on the type of magazine.
Below, I have included front covers of music magazines in the UK. They have been selected as they vary in genre.
The music magazine, "Q", is popular within the UK, this could be due to the magazine featuring well-known artists from various genres. Consumers of this publication know they will find a artists that they recognise, they ill also be able to find information online via their website and social media.

Kerrang! is a magazine devoted to rock music and information surrounding the genre. This can include things such as interviews, news and advertisements.
www.kerrang.com
This is a pop magazine, the demographic of which looks at this magazine would predominantly young girls. This magazine would include more gossip and other segments which you would not conventionally find in other genre's magazine.
R2 focuses of several genres of music: both classic and contemporary rock, established and emerging talents from the worlds of roots, blues, folk, Americana, singer-songwriter and world music.
Research: Codes and Conventions of Existing Products
In order to produce a music magazine, I had to do some research into the typical codes and conventions within them. Additionally, research surrounding music magazine advertisements are crucial as I need to know how they look like for the I begin to construct one of my own.
Each magazine focuses on a genre, within the magazines there may be sub-genres, yet they do not usually stray from the initial genre, this is because each of the magazines has a certain demographic they are attempting to target. For example, Kerrang! focusses on rock, yet there may be different types of rock, however, this means that only readers who enjoy listening to rock would purchase this magazine. There are specific codes and conventions that must be on a music magazine advertisement, yet details can be altered in order to be unique for the artist and what they are aiming to sell.
Usual codes are the artist's name with the album title, alongside the release date. record labels, producers are sometimes included, as well as legal information at the bottom in small writing. Sometimes, the album cover may be included on the MMA in order for the consumer to know what it looks like. Images of the artists or at least a symbol that the artists is known as are conventionally on the advertisement. Typography and spacing differs drastically, especially within the genres. Rock bands usually have dark backgrounds and large font, whereas pop albums seems to be lighter and have less harsh font. Each genre, magazine and artist may promote themselves differently, yet these components are usually included.
On this music magazine advertisement, the name of the band, "Stereophonics", is placed central on the top of the advert, this would be the first thing a consumer would see, as well as the name of the album. The typography are identical, the large letters would attract attention. The black against the light sky background firstly makes the text stand out, the underlining of the artists name automatically divers attention from anywhere else on the page. However, there is an image of the artist's central on the page, the use of colour makes them stand out in contrast to the dark background. a code that is relatively typically used in an MMA is the release ate of an album, this is in white as it contrast the dark background and can clearly be seen. Also, ways of consuming the new music is included at the bottom of the age as well as a website. The genre of this band is rock/alternative rock, thereof this may reflect on the dark colours.
Chris Brown's "Fortune" music magazine advert differs from the previous advert. The attention is automatically drawn to the image, consisting of 3 women and the artist laying near a bed. Due to them being dressed in dark colours, this contrasts with the illuminated background, subsequently leading the to stand out more. Yet, the title at the top, right hand side of the advertisement is in a light colour, seeming to be illuminated, the text is late and seems to be in webdings. The name of the artists is below the album name, yet it is small, but still contrasting the background and can still be seen. The MMA relates to one of his songs as it focuses on this type of background and it can be seen to replicated in one of his songs from the album he is promoting. Additionally, at the bottom, let of the advert, there is a cover of his album, as well as some of the songs included on the album. Along the bottom of the MMA, in small, white writing there is copyright information and other legal information. This does in fact reflect his genre of hip hop and pop.
